台中 14.11.12 ♥ 0 comments

It's the day to Taichung~ after careful planning!

*If you are taking a bus to Taichung, it will definitely stop at Cao Ma and there are no transport other than taxi and scooter. Unless you know your way in Taichung, you may try taking the bus, otherwise, Cao Ma and Taichung Train Station are actually at 2 different end. So remember to check the area of your hotel/ 民宿, then decide whether to take a bus or train. If you are booking hotels, which are usually more or less within the same area, near the city, it will be more advisable to take a train or you have to ensure the bus gets you to another bus station, which is known as Gan Cheng/ Ren You (干城站/仁友车站), to be able to get around the city easier.

For us, we booked a room at the J&I逢甲美宿館 after looking at the room photo that my friend sent (in fact its just about the cute wall) as well as the appearance of the room that was reflected in the website. So of coz, I am looking forward to it.

You can check out this place if you are going Taichung:-

Website: http://www.gotosleep.com.tw/about_us.html

Address: 台中市西屯區西屯路二段湳子巷9-11號 (this is just at the junction after you turn in at the corner)

I can't deny that I was being attracted to the cute picture on the wall that makes me want to book a room here but after seeing the room, I am glad that it was only available for 1 night and I am able to book a room at another place. The room wasn't really that nice as it appear and I believe it's the picture on the wall that attract people in to book a room.

*First impression yet wrong

Also, feel that there is no need for the computer (or maybe some might need). However placing the computer table just right outside the toilet door and right after you enter the room, it is definitely wrong! Just take a few steps and you reached the computer table as well as the toilet... and on the other end, it seems more spacious as compare to the packed corner near the door. But it's only for one night, so just live with it.

Took our first public transport as Dear was not sure which to take too. But lucky for us, Taiwanese are really friendly and helpful as we met this girl, which happen to alight at the same stop. Even lead us the way to Banana New Paradise (香蕉新樂園茶飯館). Appreciate her help a lot (:

Opening Hours: 11:00 - 00:30
Website: http://www.vernaldew.com.tw/
Address: No.111, Sec. 2, Shuangshi Rd., North Dist., Taichung City 404, Taiwan (R.O.C.)

Other than the old train cabin parked outside the restaurant, the theme of the restaurant gives us the feel that we had traveled back to 50s-60s, the old era of Taichung, with the different settings and all the theater posters, not forgetting that the menu was simply just like an old school textbook. An interesting place with reasonable prices. Do drop by if you ever visit Taichung.

And not forgetting photo shoot around the place :)

The old school color pencils.. :)

The iconic Banana boy ... doesn't my boy look like him? especially the mouth? haha

And here comes our drinks.. Milk Green Tea & Milk Covered Green Tea

The old train outside the restaurant. Bring you back to the older days~

See the train conductor behind me? dear got a scare, thinking he is real. haha!

And so... we left the restaurant for Yizhong Night Market. It wasn't that big, so after walking one round, we completed the shops just continue for 2 more rounds, to ensure we covered the market. hehe... Didn't spend a long time over there as we were kind of tired too, so after getting our food and so, we decided to head back.

Milkshakes over here were not bad. More popular choices are Green Bean, Papaya and Banana. Many were queuing for this, so do we.
haha... follow the crowd.

and this! 棺材板- it was known as 棺材板 (coffin) because the center was being dug to put the fillings and later being closed back, just like coffin. Quite a popular choice when you visit the night market. We got the black pepper beef and would say that the combination of the sauce and beef were just nice. Lovely~

As usual, we got a 2nd cup of drink after finishing 棺材板. This red tea wasn't that fantastic. The initial thought was that it will be good coz of the number of people queuing, but ended up, I don't quite fancy it. To me, I had tried even better red tea than this.
But I could say this is subject to personal preference.

Back to our little stayover place.. and we simply spent the night watching tv and playing game. Haha... And this was our supper when we got hungry around 1plus... All these from 7-11~ Looks good? 7-11 in Singapore doesn't offer these at all too... Except for the Papaya milkshake that we got it at the night market just opposite our place. Papaya Milkshake was fantastic~ Thick and fragrant...

With these supper, it ended our first night at Taichung.

We will be moving "house" tomorrow... Hopefully it will be a better place as compared to this~! hehe...

Gd Night world (:
